I would like to bring to the notice of the railway authorities that in the Berhampur station there are six reservation counters and of them only two are functioning. As a result, several people stand in queue for hours together and the public are facing innumerable problems and difficulties. I request the railway authorities to engage their personnel in more counters so as to get the reservation tickets quickly. Further, it will be better the separate counters will be arranged for women and senior citizens. S.R. Krishna Berhampur An eye-openerElephant chase has hogged the limelight for a week now. It was a painful that hurt every wildlife lover. Till now, elephant herds are found to have strayed into human habitations within Orissa. Never has it happened that elephant herds made their way into other State’s boundary. The incident is really a lesson for policy-makers to keep the habitations of the big mammals intact otherwise they would raid the human habitation and crop fields. Every State says that their wildlife management plan was ready when Ministers or bureaucrats face reporters. Once the focus gets sidelined, the management plan gets mismanaged. The sufferers turn out to be innocent wild animals. The Forest Department should work on its management plan immediately before the situation goes beyond control. Bidhan Sastry Bhubaneswar Take care of common peopleMain roads of the capital city are shining. At any point of time, one could find labourers working something. This seems to be the only achievement of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during last seven years in power. I request Mr. Patnaik to direct his pilot vehicle and convoy to take ride in the lanes and bylanes of the city. They would surely ‘enjoy’ adventurous game. Even after rains stopped, several roads have not been motorable. I would like to suggest to bureaucrats to plan one big office of IT companies, so that the roads would get facelift on its own. This is the reason why Chandrasekharpur area has better roads than any other localities. But irony is that the government only takes care of big companies while common citizens who pay taxes regularly have never been important except during election time. Sanjay Sahoo Bhubaneswar
