BIDAR: Traders affected by the demolition operations in the city should be given interest-free loans, founder-president of the Bidar Chamber of Commerce and Industry B.G. Shetkar has said. Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Shetkar cited examples of how interest-free loans were given to businessmen after riots hit Bidar a decade ago and their shops were destroyed. He said that traders affected by the demolition drive undertaken by the City Municipal Council (CMC) could also be provided loans free of interest. Mr. Shetkar said that the demolition operations going on in the city were a setback to the local economy. It would take at least five years for the business community to tide over the loss. He, however, welcomed the decision of Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta to constitute a panel to look into the grievances of the affected people. “Any step towards restoring normality in the business community should be taken immediately,” he said.
