Minister calls for closer ties

KOCHI: Tamil Nadu Minister for Social Welfare Poongothai said here on Sunday that Kerala and Tamil Nadu should be on the vanguard of the social justice movement and become examples for implementing social welfare programmes in the country.

She was speaking after inaugurating a function launching Kalainjar Narpani Mandram and a seminar on art and politics here. At a time when globalisation was gaining momentum, people of India should overcome all differences and become one, she said. Union Minister of State for Law K. Venkatapathy inaugurated the first delegates’ meeting of the women’s wing of the DMK earlier in the day.
