Jaipur: Winter has started in Rajasthan with temperatures dipping during the night and early morning and people bringing out their woollens. As the northerly winds touch the State, the mercury continues to plummet every day by one or two degrees Celsius at all places with the hill resort of Mount Abu being the coldest at nine degrees Celsius on Saturday night. Sriganganagar was the coldest in the plains, recording a minimum of 11.9 degrees Celsius, a met official said here. In the last week the State recorded a fall of seven degrees Celsius in night time temperatures. Night temperatures varied between 12 to 16 degrees Celsius at many places including Jaipur, Pilani, Bikaner, Bharatpur and Sikar. The nights have also become cooler in the sandy districts of Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Churu. People have stopped using fan and air conditioners during the night. However, day temperatures have varied between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius at many places in the State. The met department said the mercury would further dip during the nights in the State next week. — PTI
