New Delhi
When we travel by AC-II tier, we expect it to be a comfortable journey. However, my recent experience, while travelling by the Hapa Jammu Tawi Express from Rajkot to Delhi on October 3, has been otherwise. The compartment had dirty linen and curtains. The place was filled with a foul smell and lots of cockroaches, bees, flies and other insects all round. The lavatories were in a mess with no soap in the wash basins. To add to it all, the snacks and tea available on the train were highly overpriced. I could clearly see the rate list was tampered with. The journey, in one word, was a torture. The Railways must compensate all passengers for failing them so miserably. Mahesh Kapasi, B-49, Gulmohar Park, New Delhi-110 049. Hello, naukri….I availed of naukri.com’s resume development service, by making a payment of Rs.1,600, on September 23. My transaction code was 070923TS186814 and customer code 070923CS166405. I was told by naukri.com executive Anshika Mishra that a group of experts would study my profile, skills, hierarchy and industry and design my CV accordingly. I have received four drafts of the resume prepared by them so far but none seems to have been drafted by an expert. All the drafts contain irrelevant and wrong information besides being poorly presented. They mention areas of work which I have never handled. I brought the matter to the notice of Aarti Sachdeva, Group Manager (Resume Development Team), and Subhash Rekhari, Manager (Resume Development Team). But all I got was a reply saying that they would look into the matter and try to design my resume again. The prescribed time for the job was ten days, but many more days have passed and I am yet to get my “re-designed” resume. Now that the company has failed me, I want an immediate refund of my money and compensation for the loss of valuable time. Pradeep Goyal, BG-6, Flat No. 63-C, Paschim Vihar, New Delhi – 110063. Bye-bye, Tata….I took a Tata Indicom broadband connection on September 28 this year. It has been lying dead for a whole week and despite repeated complaints I have not got any response from the company’s executives. The customer care executives are completely ill informed about the whole process. It turns out that the marketing agent who sold me the product had lied saying that the service was fault-free and if there was any complaint of a dead connection I would be compensated for the same, because now the customer care centre folks seem to say just the opposite. I have a day-based plan and the number of days I miss due to a dead connection translates directly into loss of my money. I want the company to withdraw the connection at once and refund the six-month advance. I also want them to compensate me formy loss of time and energy. Siddharth Shah, B4 /114D, 3rd floor, Keshavpuram, Delhi – 110 035. Inside BiharIt is a shame that thousands of newly recruited teachers in Bihar, appointed on a fixed minimum salary, have not been getting their dues for months together and the Government is doing absolutely nothing about it. In such a frustrating situation, how can one expect the teachers to deliver their best? Sadly the fault lies not just with the present government alone; it has always been like this in Bihar. I, however, request the Nitish Kumar Government to look into the matter at once and do the needful. Nishikant Tiwari, Village Singahi, Post Office Mehrauli, Chapra, Bihar – 841 211. Driving hazardThe magazine sellers at the Ashram traffic signal in the Capital have become a nuisance. They gawk and bang car windows incessantly displaying magazines with obscene pictures and forcing motorists to buy their stuff. As one seller goes past the car, another follows. They refuse to budge even when one refuses to buy the magazines. At times they keep standing in front of the cars when the light turns green, provoking drivers to honk repeatedly to move past them. All this chaos leads to traffic congestions. Shockingly, even the traffic police personnel standing nearby make no effort to control the commotion. It is time the authorities did something to improve matters. Vasudha Malik, B-1, Jangpura B, New Delhi – 110 014. Wake up!I travel by Delhi Metro almost everyday. And almost invariably I find that security at the stations is very poor. The men and women in charge of security are very careless about checking passengers’ bags and other belongings. Frequently you find them indulging in gossip or other frivolous activities and paying no attention to their job. Such lapses can prove fatal. It is time the metro authorities woke up. Shilpa Sinha, E / 321-D, Guru Teg Bahadur Enclave, Dilshad Garden, Delhi – 110 093.
