Builder loses Rs. 2 lakh kept in vehicle

BANGALORE: Thieves looted Rs. 2 lakh from a builder’s multi-utility vehicle (MUV) that was parked near a bank on Hebbal Ring Road on Friday.

The police said that around 10.30 a.m. R. Kumar Raj, a builder from Nagashettihalli in Sanjaynagar, went to Canara Bank’s branch on Hebbal Ring Road in his MUV. He was carrying Rs. 2.5 lakh cash with him. After parking his vehicle, Mr. Kumar Raj took Rs. 50,000 from the cash bag to deposit in the bank. When he returned, he found that the thieves had smashed the glass panes of the MUV and made away with the bag containing Rs. 2 lakh, the police said.

Burgled

Burglars struck at a travel agent’s house in J.C. Nagar police station limits on Friday and decamped with Rs. 35,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs. 40,000.

The police said that between noon and midnight, the thieves entered Vinod Thomas’ house in Benson Town by breaking open the locks of the main door.

The J.C. Nagar police have registered a case and are investigating.

Dies

Suma Nayak (32) died after she suffered burns while cooking at her house in Benchukallupalya in Jnana Bharathi police station limits on Saturday.

The police said Suma and her husband Raja Nayak were migrant labourers from Raichur district.
