CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Sunday that 3.50 lakh marginal farmers, small shopkeepers and artisans have already availed the benefit of Rs. 400 crores under the Cooperative Loan Waiving Scheme so for. The scheme was recently extended up to December 31, he added. Speaking after laying the foundation stone of the building of Panipat Central Cooperative Bank at Panipat, he said that the date of the scheme had been extended on the demand of marginal farmers, small shopkeepers and artisans. The rate of interest on crop loans had been reduced from 11 per cent to seven per . Two per cent concession in the interest would also be given to those farmers who would deposit their instalments well in time during this financial year. Also, no farmer would be arrested in the future for the recovery of cooperative loans. He exhorted the people to make the ‘cooperative movement’ a great success in Haryana to bring it at par with Gujarat and Maharashtra. Cooperation Minister H.S. Chatha, Karnal MP Arvind Sharma, local MLA Bir Pal Shah also spoke.
