Water regulation would be reviewed in December and February, says Water Resources Minister Farmers urged to ensure optimum utilisation of water by adopting drip irrigation techniques JAIPUR: Rajasthan will pay Rs. 1.30 crore to neighbouring Haryana for repairs and maintenance of the Siddhmukh Canal and Nohar feeder as part of the inter-State river water agreement. State Water Resources Minister Sanwarlal Jat, making the announcement during his visit to Hanumangarh district over the weekend, said the regulation of Amar Singh branch of the canal and Nohar feeder would be improved for better availability of water. Interacting with the farmers and panchayat representatives at Pallu, Rawatsar and other villages in the district, Mr. Jat said the State Government was trying its best to get its full share in Ravi-Beas river waters from Punjab. He said the water regulation would be reviewed in December and February. He called upon the farmers to ensure optimum utilisation of water by adopting drip irrigation and other agricultural practices involving lesser amount of water. Strengthening of the canal network would ensure water supply to the tail-end. The Minister said a recommendation had been made to the Haryana Government to improve water regulation at the canal so that farmers near the Amar Singh branch and Nohar feeder get quick turns for receiving water.
