KSRTC to run special schedules

Special Correspondent

To operate nearly 960 extra services every day between November 6 and 9

Some services to start from Shantinagar, Mysore road bus stations

Pick up facility arranged in select extensions in the city

BANGALORE: The Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will run special schedules to meet the Deepavali rush. According to the vice-president and Managing Director of the corporation A.P. Joshi, apart from the regular schedules, the corporation will operate nearly 960 buses every day between November 6 and 9 to different destinations in the State.

Mr. Joshi said 300 buses would start from the Kempegowda Bus Station in Bangalore towards Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Shimoga, Hassan, Davangere, Hubli, Belgaum, Bijapur, Raichur, Gulburga, Bellary and other places. Another 200 buses will operate in the Mysore route and all the special buses towards Mysore would start from the Mysore Road Satellite Bus terminus. Another 100 special buses would operate from BMTC bus station at Shantinagar on inter-State routes towards Madurai, Kumbakonam, Tiruchi, Chennai, Coimbatore and other places in Tamil Nadu. Mr. Joshi said special mini buses would ferry passengers from the Kempegowda terminus to bus stations at Shantinagar and Mysore Road. However, all the schedules using Volvo vehicles would continue to operate from the Kempegowda Bus Terminus he added.

Special boarding platforms have been set up near Shantala Silk House side on the eastern side of the Kempegowda bus terminus for some routes. Announcements will be made on the public address system and written messages will be displayed at the entrance of the Kempegowda bus station about the schedules.

All the special schedules have been included in the computerised reservation process and all the counters in the State and some counters in the neighbouring States have been synchronised so that the passengers would have a clear idea of the availability of seats.

In an effort to decongest the Kempegowda terminus the KSRTC has arranged for pick up facilities in select extensions in the city such as Christ College, Jayanagar Bus stand, J.P. Nagar, Rajajinagar, Peenya, Malleswaram bus stand and Padmanabhanagar.
