Addressing a public meeting after the inaugural of Ali Sagar lift irrigation schemeon Sunday, he said Mr. Naidu is levelling false allegations out of jealousy.

He said at the outset the party has created several problems for Jalayagnam by filing a series of complaints in the High Court and Supreme Court.

The party members even raised the issue in the Parliament with an intention to stall the release of funds by the Centre, he alleged.

Minister for Higher Education D. Srinivas said the people of the town are fortunate to get sufficient amount of drinking water, thanks to the Ali Sagar lift scheme.

The project could become a reality only due to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, he said.

Assembly Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy said the confidence of people on Jalayagnam has doubled when the trial runs for Ali Sagar had begun last month and irrigation tanks filled.

District in-charge Minister R. Damodar Reddy said Dr. Reddy showed his affection for the backward Telangana region by ensuring early completion of the project.

Amount spent

Rs. 5000 crore have been spent for different programmes in the region so far, he said. Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir described the Chief Minister second Nizam as he like the Nizam is making efforts to make the district lush green with irrigation projects.
