Bangalore: Around 400 ophthalmologists from Karnataka and various parts of the country deliberated on childhood eye disorders, oculoplasty and recent advances in the field of ophthalmology at “Search and Research”, the 26th Karnataka State Ophthalmic Society Conference 2007, hosted by the Asian Research and Training Institute for Skill Transfer (ARTIST), the academic wing of Divakars Speciality Hospital, with support from the Karnataka Ophthalmic Society. P. Vijayalakshmi, senior paediatric ophthalmologist at the Arvind Eye Hospital, spoke on the management of childhood cataracts and highlighted the significance of early treatment for such problems. Discussions were also held on the management of complications arising out of paediatric eye disorders and the latest technologies available in paediatric ophthalmology. Experts in the field from Delhi and Mumbai gave lectures on various topics concerned with the theme during the scientific sessions. The conference concluded on Sunday.
