This Day That Age
The Union Home Minister, Pandit Pant, told pressmen in Gauhati on November 3 after a five-day visit to the State that early steps would be taken for the formation of a new administrative unit for Naga Hills and Tuensang Frontier Division and it might be inaugurated on December 1. Pandit Pant expressed the hope that the Government would receive full co-operation from the Naga people in implementing the plans. The Home Minister said he was happy at the talks he had with the tribal leaders and the Assam government during his visit. The government would see that the culture and customs of the people were not disturbed.
