Ramakrishna Math chief passes away

Swami Gahanananda
KOLKATA: Swami Gahanananda, 14th president of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, passed away in a hospital here on Sunday at 5.35 p.m. He was 91.
Swami Gahanananda, who was suffering from old-age ailments, was admitted to the Ramkrishna Seva Pratishthan on September 4.
His body will lie at the Ramakrishna Math at Belur till 12.30 p.m. on Monday for devotees to pay respects, after which it would be taken for cremation, a spokesman of the Math told The Hindu.
Swami Gahanananda’s successor will be announced after a month, the spokesman said.
