Kerala
There is an undeclared load-shedding for half-an-hour in some areas of the city. The areas come under the jurisdiction of Poojappura sub-division. It started two weeks back, especially in Pappanamcode, Neeramankara and Karamana areas. The authorities concerned should explain why this unauthorised and undeclared load-shedding at a time when the State received plenty of rain and all reservoirs are nearing full capacity. N.S. Suresh Pappanamcode Paucity of trolleys at MCHPatients in critical conditions arriving at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital (MCH) casualty wing are to be carried by the companions themselves to the rooms or theatre due to paucity of sufficient trolleys. More than 1,000 accident cases are attended at the casualty wing and the number of attenders there is just two. This is a shocking situation. The shortage of staff and necessary trolleys should be addressed immediately. R. Jishi Thumba Reduce prices of medicinesThe prices of medicines, especially life-saving ones, are being increased according to the whims and fancies of the drug manufacturers. The government has a moral responsibility to help the poor patients by curbing such tendencies. The companies are realising 100 per cent profit from the medicines manufactured. Hence, it will be a great boon to the poor patients if the maximum selling price of medicines distributed to the wholesale dealers is fixed by the government. The Union government should act immediately and reduce the prices of at least life-saving medicines. V.G. Balakrishnan Karamana
