KPRS to hold rally tomorrow

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha (KPRS) will hold a farmers rally on Tuesday in Bangalore with a procession from the Bangalore City Railway Station to Banappa Park, where general-secretary of All India Kisan Sabha, K. Varadaran will address the public.

G.C. Byareddy, general-secretary of the sangha, told presspersons here on Sunday that the financial situation of farmers in the State was deteriorating.

This was owing to the anti-farmer agricultural polices of the Union and State Governments which was resulting in farmers committing suicide, he said.

Venkatachalaiah, president of the Bangalore Zilla Samiti, said that the State Government was acquiring farming lands around Bangalore for residential layouts.

He said that the money offered for such land was less compared to the market price.

He added that the Government’s attention would be drawn to these issues through the rally.
