CHENNAI: More than 2,000 clothes were distributed to four institutions ahead of Deepavali at an event organised by the Rajasthan Cosmo Club Foundation (RCCF) and Rajasthan Cosmo Club Platinum Trust (RCCPT) at the Institute of Mental Health here on Sunday. RCCPT managing trustee Mayur Srisrimal said clothes worth over Rs.2.50 lakh were being distributed. The RCCF and RCCPT have instituted a cloth bank. As part of this programme, old clothes are collected through collection rallies and door-to-door campaign. They are segregated, mended if necessary, washed, ironed and packed and distributed to the needy. More than 10 lakh clothes have been distributed over the last 12 years. Institute of Mental Health Director R. Sathianathan said the Institute hoped to be able to name buildings constructed with large donations after the donors. Government approval was being sought for the proposal. Joint Commissioner of Police (North) M. Ravi felicitated the RCCF and the RCCPT for their service. He, later, gave away clothes to representatives of the Institute of Mental Health, Lotus Blind Welfare Trust of India, Thakkar Bapa Vidyalaya and Sevalaya.
