CPI(M) plea to set up medical college

PUDUKOTTAI: The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI (M)) urged the State Government to take steps for setting up a government medical college in Pudukottai at the earliest.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the Pudukottai town conference of the party held here recently. Another resolution called upon the Government to create additional infrastructure facilities and provide sophisticated equipment to the Raniyar maternity ward at the Government Headquarters Hospital here, besides increasing the bed strength.

The Pudukottai Municipality should commission electric crematorium facility at the Bosenagar crematorium to protect the surrounding environment in the locality. The bushes should be removed from the cremation grounds at Adappanvayal, Tirukogarnam, Pichathanpatti areas. The Pudukottai Municipality should also provide lighting and water facility in these cremation grounds and also fix proper charges for cremation of the bodies.

Many of the roads in Pudukottai town are in a bad shape causing much hardship to the pedestrians and vehicle users. The Municipal authorities should initiate immediate steps to relay all such roads. It should also remove the sand that has got deposited on both sides of the roads and the debris of demolished structures, the resolution added.
