TIRUCHI: Women Entrepreneurs’ Association of Tamil Nadu floated by the Centre for Women’s Studies, Bharathidasan University, has planned a series of training programmes to initiate women into entrepreneurial activities on eco-friendly and technical areas. The Association will facilitate prospective entrepreneurs to start their own enterprises and provide them with marketing support after the flexible training programmes ranging between one week and six months. According to N. Manimekalai, Director, Centre for Women’s Studies, the training will commence in November in the following: Manufacture of eco-friendly products such as banana fibre, areca leaf plate, and paper bag (Fee Rs. 1,000 – one month training), Computer Basics Training and Web Graphics (Rs. 1,000 – 24 days), Sewing Operator Training on Garments Making for men and women of 18-30 years from BPL families (six months with stipend component upon placement), Artificial Diamond Cutting (Rs. 1,500 – one month), Kunthan Jewels (Rs. 400 – one week), Engineering industries through a tie-up with BHEL (Rs. 1,000 – two months), Sanitary napkin (Rs. 1,000 – one week), Baby bed making (Rs. 1,000 – one month), Food Processing (Rs. 1,000 – 15 days), Beautician Training (Rs. 5,000 – three months), Foot mat making from waste cloth (Rs. 300 – one week), Driving of two and four-wheeler, auto till taking of licence (Rs. 2,000 – one month), Fur toys and plastic garlands (Rs. 1,000 – one month), and Glass Painting and embroidery under buy-back arrangement (Rs. 2,000 – one month).
