KOCHI: A team of students of Federal Institute of Science and Technology at Mokkannoor here on Monday claimed to have developed a super computing system called ‘Dakshina cluster series - I’. The system was designed and developed, as part of the Centre for High Performance Computing project initiated by the Computer Science Department. Team leader C. Dakshina utilises message passing interface for a fault tolerant communication between the computational nodes. It also utilises parallelism technologies like multicore, multithreading and cluster of workstations. C. Rajagopal, student member, said that the system is also ideal for fast computation at reduced cost by smaller number of personal computers using gigabyte Ethernet network. J. C.
