NAMAKKAL: Police arrested six persons and recovered 20 sovereigns of gold jewellery, which were stolen from various places, from them here on Sunday.
Police said a team of personnel, while patrolling, found six persons moving under suspicious circumstances and inquired them.
During the inquiry, it was found that they were involved in a number of thefts and chain snatching incidents. The personnel arrested Sivakumar (29), Jaishankar (35), Govindan (30), Raja (31), Kumar (32) and Anbu (30) and seized 20 sovereigns of jewels from them. Further investigation is on.
Found dead
An aged man was found dead here on Sunday. People found the body of the man under the Periyar flyover and informed the police.
The identity of the deceased was yet to be established.
A case was registered, police said.
