Rs. 2.39-crore financial assistance to Adi Dravidars

SALEM: The State Government has allotted Rs. 2.39 crore to provide financial assistance to Adi Dravidar people under various schemes implemented through the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TAHDCO) this financial year, District Revenue Officer M. Rajarathinam said.
He was speaking at the regional-level credit camp organised by TAHDCO here recently to discuss the implementation of various schemes and issues in extending loans to the beneficiaries, a press release said.
Mr. Rajarathianam said the district administration would provide assistance to 8,785 Adi Dravidar people under TAHDCO schemes to improve their quality of life.
He said the Salem TAHDCO received proposals seeking assistance to the tune of Rs. 7.60 lakh under the self-employment programme for youth.
It had also received proposals seeking revolving fund worth Rs. 11.10 lakh from 111 self-help groups. For providing economic assistance to SHGs, the Corporation received proposals to the tune of Rs. 57.20 lakh.
TAHDCO General Manager N. Marichamy presided.District Rural Development Agency Project Officer D. Jagannathan, Salem District TAHDCO manager P. Meenatchisundaram, TAHDCO officials from Tiruchi, Perambalur, Karur, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts and senior bank officials attended the meeting.
Road users who frequently travel on Ayyasamy Road in Sevvapet area here are undergoing hardship, as the road remains in a bad condition for long.
