dated November 6, 1957: Nehru-Diem talks

The Prime Minister, Mr. Nehru, called on President Diem of South Vietnam, who is on a visit to India, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on November 4. The two leaders met for nearly an hour to review the international situation. The discussion might be continued on November 6 when President Diem lunches with the Prime Minister. Speaking at the airport on arrival in New Delhi, Mr. Diem said he was anxious to know at first hand India “which has left an indelible imprint on Asian thought and which has also attracted the imagination of other peoples by the greatness of its past and by the decisive importance of its destiny in the future of Asia and of the entire world."
