The Department of Social Work, CMS College of Science and Commerce, Coimbatore in association with UDIS Forum, a network that assists the disabled in finding employment, conducted an oratorical competition for school students. The topic of the programme was “My Role in the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.” Over 30 schools participated. First prize in the English category went to P. Prajeesha of CMS Matriculation School and the second prize went to Shraddha Patil of Satchidananda Jothi Nikethan Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kallar. First and second prizes in the Tamil category went to A. Shantipriya of TPV Middle School Perurchettipalayam and A. Logitha Karthi of R.S. Puram Boys High School.
Commerce week
The Commerce students of Sri Jayendra Saraswathy Vidyalaya celebrated Commerce Week to improve awareness on the various fields in Commerce. Through the week, they conducted programmes to stress marketing skills and private entrepreneurship. An exhibition was also held. The concepts of economical apartments and shopping malls were demonstrated by the students.
Human chain formed
Students of Avila Convent Matriculation School came up with slogans to create awareness among the people for the eradiation of poverty, empowerment of women, general equality, environmental protection, primary education and prevention of AIDS. The students formed a human chain. At the school, the students organised skits, dance and debates to make children aware of the problems in the country.
