The e-ticket will be part of an m-fly account ‘Anything available on internet will be offered through mobile phone’ BANGALORE: The low-cost airliner Deccan has tied up with Oxigen, a pre-paid services company, to provide air tickets through mobile phones. Passengers can book, pay and generate e-tickets for the Deccan flights. The e-tickets will be given as part of m-fly initiative that was launched here on Monday. Passengers have to register on the Deccan website or call 39008888 (prefix city STD code). On registration a four-digit password is sent as an SMS to the mobile phone. An account is generated with the mobile phone number as the account number. Passenger need visit Oxigen outlets and recharge the account. With the m-fly account, passengers can do the booking from any location without depending on debit or credit cards. The customer would receive ticket no. PNR as an SMS and an e-mail of the e-ticket. “We are targeting a large number of mobile phone users of which many do not use either the credit/debit cards or have back accounts,” said Pramod Saxena, chairman and managing Director of Oxigen Services (India) Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Saxena said the new initiative would help such persons to book tickets even from the remotest corner of the country. The m-fly accounts could be recharged in 50,000 Oxigen outlets throughout the country, he said. Mr. Saxena said the company would provide value-added services and offer video clips and other online content through their outlets. “Anything available on internet would be offered through your mobile phone,” he said. Executive chairman of Deccan Aviation G.R. Gopinath said the company was consistently focusing on diversifying its distribution network to ensure the tickets were not only affordable but also accessible. People from small towns and cities could make use of SMS-based flight booking and information services. Capt. Gopinath announced the launch of other sms-based initiatives.
