“Study Sethu project in detail”

CHENNAI: The Geological Survey of India should conduct a comprehensive study of the Sethusamudram Shipping Channel Project to determine the geo-tectonic situation in the project area, ocean currents and change in depth of the Indian Ocean in the wake of the tsunami, the Hindu Munnani suggested on Monday.

In his submission to the Committee of Eminent Persons on Sethusamudram Shipping Channel Project, Rama Gopalan, founder-president of the organisation, said consultations with organisations, including the National Institute of Oceanography and the Central Marines and Fisheries Research Institute, were also required. A detailed study by the Archaeological Survey of India was also required in the context of marine archaeology.
