Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his son, Tej Pratap, at a press conference in Patna on Monday. PATNA: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad’s son Tej Pratap allegedly entered into a tiff with the police after his vehicle was stopped for verification at a checkpoint on Circular Road here as part of traffic and security regulations for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Darbar on Monday. The backyard of the Chief Minister’s official residence opens on Circular Road which common people are allowed to attend the Janata Darbar. This VIP road also leads to the main gate of the house of the Leader of the Opposition Rabri Devi. It is said the police stopped Mr. Pratap, on his return from school, and allowed him to take the route only after identification. Security personnel outside the Chief Minister’s residence alleged that Mr. Pratap later returned with his mother Rabri Devi, a few staff members of Mr. Prasad, security personnel, friends and party workers. They also shouted slogans. Some security personnel charged that they were manhandled, a tent was pulled down, and chairs were flung. But Mr. Prasad said a policeman at the checkpoint brandished his lathi at his son, and so his wife, along with others, rushed there to enquire into the matter.
