UB City enters the retail sector

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The city’s retail sector has a new entrant with the opening of Vijay Mallya’s, UB City —The Collection.

A joint venture of UB Holding and the Prestige group, UB City will be an exclusive retail luxury destination.

The mall is located on Vittal Mallya Road. The venture was jointly conceived by Mr. Mallya, chairman of the UB Group, and Irfan Razack, chairman and managing director of the Prestige Group.

Mr. Razack told presspersons here on Tuesday, “We plan to make UB City stand for Bangalore the same way Petronas Towers stands for Kuala Lumpur. UB City is not just about shopping. It’s going to be an international experience.”

This venture also marks the entry of Louis Vuitton in South India. Tikka Shatrujit Singh, adviser to the chairman of Louis Vuitton, said, “This will be the brand’s first store in the city.”

The retail area will house the best international brands and Indian designers.

Other brands which have been signed up include Gucci, Mont Blanc, Fendi, Kimaya, Rolex and Omega.

However, it will not house any cinemas.
