Smooth operation

The selection of a new chairman for the City Corporation’s standing committee on town planning has proved to be a smooth affair, despite rumours about simmering rivalry between LDF partners. The unwavering stand adopted by the LDF district leadership ensured a smooth transfer of power without antagonising coalition partners.

Janata Dal nominee P.Harikumar, tipped to be the new chairman for two years, will have the unenviable job of managing a department that is notorious for corruption. The new chairman will be elected at a meeting of the town planning committee on Wednesday morning.
