Procession passes off peacefully

Chamarajanagar: The Ganesh idol immersion procession passed off peacefully here on Monday amid tight police security.

Over 1,000 police personnel were deployed along the route of the procession that was witnessed by a large crowd.

The procession, which began from Gurunanjashettar Choultry at 9.30 a.m., ended with the immersion of the six-feet tall “Veera Ganesh” idol in the “Doddarasana Kola” (pool) at 11.00 p.m. Folk artistes performed “nandi kamba”, “pooja kunita”, “kamsale”, “dollu kunita”, “somana kunita”, “veeragase”, “goravana kunita” and “karaga”. There was a festive atmosphere in the town.

Chamarajanagar Superintendent of Police Srikantappa, Assistant Commissioner Sathyabhama and tahsildar Siddappa Hullal were among those who were present.
