Krishnagiri: The district administration would initiate stringent action against members of the trading community who indulged in unfair trading practices, Collector Santhosh Babu has warned.
According to a release, a few traders and service providers were reportedly indulging in unfair trade practices such as releasing attractive advertisements in newspapers, television etc particularly during the festival seasons.

Mr. Babu said the traders were adopting gift offers and prize contests with the intention of promoting sales in an unfair manner and dubious discount sales to clear old stocks or sell duplicate and sub-standard items.Many of the methods adopted by them to promote sales were found to violate the Consumer Protection Act, the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act and the Tamil Nadu Prize Schemes (Prohibition) Act.
