BANGALORE: Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha president Vatal Nagaraj has threatened legal action if the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Janata Dal (Secular) coalition is given yet another chance to form a government in the State. Addressed a press conference here on Tuesday along with two other MLAs, K. Jayaprakash Hegde (independent) and S. Rajendran (Republican Party of India), he termed the coalition “most foul” and said the two parties were together just for the sake of power. This had been proved during the formation of the coalition after the Dharam Singh government fell and, again, after the resignation of H.D. Kumaraswamy as Chief Minister. Mr. Nagaraj said the petition seeking the disqualification of 39 JD(S) MLAs who backed Mr. Kumaraswamy when he formed a government with the BJP was coming up for hearing on November 17 before Assembly Speaker Krishna. Should the Speaker decide on disqualifying the lot, there would be no question of the BJP forming a government with the JD(S). In that event, he and several other MLAs would ask the Governor to give them a chance to form a government. He hastened to add that it would be a minority government, but he would seek the support of like-minded MLAs from different parties. He said that if Mr. Krishna did not do justice on the disqualification plea he would seek justice through the legal system. He appealed to the Speaker not to succumb to any pressure.
