DEHRA DUN: Geologists have recommended immediate shifting of the 500-odd residents of Chai in Chamoli district to a safer place as the village is caving in. A large number of houses in the village have developed cracks. Similarly the land in the village has cracked at several places. “Although we do not yet know the reason behind the caving in of the village, it would be in the interests of the residents if they were relocated at some safe site immediately,” said a senior official here on Tuesday.
