Action against chief of the probe panel demanded Dismissals against principles of natural justice: Congress LUCKNOW: The dismissal of over 17,000 police recruits and suspension of 25 IPS officers by the Mayawati Government for alleged irregularities in police recruitment during the Samajwadi Party regime figured in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday with the Leader of the Opposition, Mulayam Singh, demanding that the dismissal and suspension orders be revoked. House adjourned sine dieThe House witnessed frayed tempers between the Samajwadi Party and ruling Bahujan Samaj Party members which led the SP MLAs to storm the well of the House. As the din persisted, the Speaker, Sukhdev Rajbhar, conducted the remaining business and adjourned the House sine die. Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Ambika Chaudhary of the SP demanded action against the Chairman of the Inquiry Committee, ADG Shailaja Kant Mishra, as the documents pertaining to the recruitment of PAC personnel in Ballia remained pending with him for 18 days. Besides, Mr. Mishra was the observer in the Recruitment Board and was later made the head of the probe panel, he pointed out. Mr. Chaudhary said similarly IPS officer Javed Akhtar conducted the selection in Sitapur and was made a member of the probe panel. Terming the dismissal of new recruits as a disaster, the SP MLA alleged that the inquiry report had been doctored. ‘Selections impartial’Stating that the Government’s action had rendered poor youths jobless, the Leader of the Opposition said the selections had been done in a fair and impartial manner. He said the dismissed recruits would get back their jobs considering that the present regime would not last long. Pramod Tiwari of the Congress said the dismissal of recruits was against the principles of natural justice. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Lalji Verma defended the Government action and said the House was not a wrestling arena. This infuriated the SP members who entered the well of the House. As pandemonium prevailed for about 35 minutes, the Speaker finished the proceedings and adjourned the House.
