CPI against NCP entry
Staff Reporter
KOCHI: K.E. Ismail, Communist Party of India (CPI) State assistant secretary, said here on Tuesday that his party would oppose the return of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to the Left Democratic Front (LDF), even if the former Chief Minister K. Karunakaran left that party and joined the Congress.
Mr. Ismail told presspersons that Mr. Karunakaran had always tried to forge alliances only for his own political gains.
Before the last Assembly elections, he (Mr. Karunakaran) had made an attempt to join the LDF realising that the United Democratic Front would face a miserable defeat. But it failed to yield any results, he said.
