CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government would open more culinary schools for chefs in the State, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced on Tuesday. He was speaking at the Chefs Awards-2007 function organised in Delhi to mark International Chefs Day, according to an official release issued here. Mr. Hooda said the opening of such institutions would encourage more youths to take up this profession and also generate new employment opportunities. Describing chefs as the backbone of the hospitality industry, Mr. Hooda thanked the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Indian Culinary Forum and the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations for taking the initiative to recognise the contribution made by culinary artisans for the cause of tourism. Noting that 10 million tourists are expected during the Commonwealth Games-2010 in Delhi, he said this would also contribute to the development of tourism in Haryana. Mr. Hooda also presented the Golden Hat Chef Award-2007 to Sushil Chug. Eleven other chefs were also honoured.
