dated November 7, 1957: Travel to planets

Russian scientists and engineers are developing missiles which will be able to land safely on unexplored planets, the official Soviet News Agency, Tass, said on November 5. The Agency, quoting an article by scientist Nikolayev, said the missile would be manned. It said the crew would “have to move about in conditions of weightlessness with the help of rocket pistols.”
