Protest against ‘move to close down’ factory

Kochi: Workers under the aegis of the Action Council of Tata Oil Mills Workers, Employees, Staff Unions staged a dharna in front of the Hindustan Unilever factory here on Tuesday in protest against what they called a move to close down the factory and sell off the factory land. Thampan Thomas, MP and president of Hind Mazdoor Sabha, inaugurated the dharna. Sebastian Paul, MP, said that a memorandum had been sent to the Chief Minister against the company management’s move. M. M. Lawrence, CITU leader,and K.V. Thomas, MLA, spoke.
