Two trucks, PDS rice seized

Coimbatore: The District Supply officials on Monday night intercepted two trucks laden with 592 bags of rice that was being smuggled across to Kerala at Pongalur during a vehicle check.
Fleecing
In order to prevent fleecing of passengers bound for southern district by omni bus operators, the Transport Department officials have intensified checking of these buses. The drive would continue up to November 11 to ensure that passengers returning for work were not fleeced.
Crackdown
The Local Planning Authority officials on Tuesday began a crackdown on those violating building rules. The fifth floor of an apartment in ATT Colony was demolished, since it was constructed without approval. The approved plan had only four floors.
