‘After the incidents his hands, legs became motionless’ Case registered, but the teacher has not been arrested yet NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old student of a government school in East Vinod Nagar who took ill after being allegedly slapped by his class teacher last month died in a hospital here on Tuesday. A Class VIII student, Ajay Kumar was allegedly slapped by his teacher Shyam Lal Raturi on October 23 over some issue. He took ill and was admitted to St. Stephen’s Hospital the same day, the police said. His father alleged that after being slapped, his hands and legs became motionless. On the basis of a complaint lodged by his father Satya Prakash, who works in the Public Works Department as a wireman, the Kalyanpuri police registered a case and took up investigations. Ajay’s condition deteriorated on Tuesday morning and he was declared dead around noon. Post-mortem was conducted at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital and the body was handed over to Ajay’s parents in the evening. The police have converted the case to that of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and are awaiting the post-mortem report to know the cause of the boy’s death. The teacher has not been arrested yet.
