NEW DELHI: To ensure uninterrupted power supply during the festival of lights, North Delhi Power Limited has made provision for reliable supply and immediate restoration in the event of any fault or breakdown. 46 mobile crewsAll distribution zones have been equipped with 46 mobile crews deployed round the clock for preventive maintenance and breakdowns. Six additional mobile crews with communication facilities with the control centre will be deployed to carry out activities in sub-transmission network at grids. Since the time of takeover in July 2002, the discom has also installed more than 2,100 ring main units for reducing the incidence of tripping at the grid stations, thereby reducing the outage duration and number of consumers affected due to a fault. “Duplicate supply feeds for all essential services have been provided. Technology intervention through state-of-the-art tools for job accomplishments like thermo vision cameras, fault passage indicators, testing equipment and remote switching are also being used,” an NDPL official said. “A major streetlight revamp project has been undertaken and inspection is being done on a fortnightly basis. Streetlight functionality has increased from 60 per cent in July 2002 to 99 per cent by August 2007,” the official added. The company also claims to have carried out replacement and repairs of feeder pillars and service pillars for ensuring safety and network reliability.
