Girls rescued

NEW DELHI: In a late night operation on Tuesday, the Delhi police rescued three girls who were being held captive in Meethapur. The police have also detained two persons, Kamal Haldar and his accomplice Sajan, on charges of illegally detaining these girls, one of whom is a minor.

The rescue operation was conducted jointly by the Delhi police and a non-government organisation, Shakti Vahini.

According to the police, the girls were brought from Nadia by Haldar.
