Speeding with cargo: South Central Railway General Manager K. Padhee flags off the first ‘Himalaya special’ from Secunderabad.
HYDERABAD: The South Central Railway on Tuesday introduced high speed goods trains, ‘Himayala specials’, which run on par with mail and express trains. H.K. Padhee, General Manager, flagged off the first Himalaya special at Secunderabad.
A press release issued by the SCR said, the goods trains consisting of BOX-N wagons, which normally carry coal and other specified goods, will run at 100 kmph. They will result in increased wagon usage.
