Chembai award presented to Balamuralikrishna

Guruvayur: Veteran composer V. Dakshinamurthy on Tuesday presented the Sree Guruvayurappan Chembai Award, instituted by the Guruvayur Devaswom, to M. Balamuralikrishna.
Devaswom Minister G. Sudhakaran inaugurated the Chembai music festival. Devaswom chairman Thottathil Ravindran presided. Managing committee members Gokulam Gopalan and T.R. Hari spoke.
Lecture delivered
Mannur Rajakumaranunni delivered the Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar Memorial Lecture.
Nearly 140 singers will perform in the 15-day festival. A saxophone recital by Kadri Gopalnath and vocal recitals by K. G. Jayan and T. V. Gopalakrishnan, disciples of Chembai, will bring the curtain down on the festival.
