Silver jubilee celebrations at St. Mary’s seminary

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Major Archbishop of the Malankara Catholic Church Baselios Cleemis Catholicos inaugurated the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the St. Mary’s Malankara Seminary at Nalanchira near here on Tuesday. Rector Chorbishop Thomas Thannickakuzhy and Monsignor Mathew Vellanickal were present at the inaugural function.

Representatives from various Christian denominations participated in an ecumenical session on ‘The mission contributions of different churches in India.’ This was followed by a workshop and group discussion on the missionary contributions of the Malankara Catholic Church and an audio-visual presentation on Mar Ivanios.

The four-day celebrations which began on Monday include discussions on the theology of the church and sessions to share the experiences and expectations of the alumni and the laity.

Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil of the Malabar Catholic Church is scheduled to inaugurate the jubilee public meeting on Thursday evening.
