ADILABAD: Warangal region Inspector General of Police J. Purnachandra Rao on Wednesday started the Andhra Pradesh Police Messaging Service (APPMS) at Adilabad that links police stations across the district through an internet network. At present 31 police stations, 15 circle offices and six sub-divisional offices have been linked in Adilabad district. The Police Department was also in the process of acquiring information on passports, ration cards and voters ID cards of citizens in Andhra Pradesh for its database known by the name Third Eye, a criminal intelligence software whose database already contains details of cellphones, telephones and vehicle registrations that ensures faster identification process, he said. The Superintendent of Police of the concerned district, heads a team of trained police personnel known as IT core team. Besides, each police station has at least one trained person to man the system. The IGP also distributed prizes to winners of the Karimnagar Range Police Duty Meet that concluded earlier in the day. KADAPA: Kadapa Superintendent of Police Y. Nagi Reddy also launched APPMS in the district. The DPO, all circle offices and police stations were totally computerised by October end and all the DSPs, Circle Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors owned individual laptops that were inter-linked through police computer services (PCS), the SP told a meeting of police officials here. Every police officer and personnel including constables have been given personal e mail IDs under AP Police’s e mailing system, he said.
