DC, Chief Electoral Officer and S.P. of Chamba to be stationed at Bharmaur till the poll ends The tribal constituency of Bharmaur goes to the polls on November 14 SHIMLA: The Election Commission has ordered immediate transfer of the District Education Officer of Chamba, Savitri Devi, who is also the wife of the Congress candidate from Bharmaur, in the interest of free and fair elections. The State Government has been asked by the Commission to post her in any assignment but out of Chamba district. The State unit of the BJP had alleged that Ms. Savitri Devi was openly canvassing and wooing voters in Chamba to vote for the Congress party and her husband Thakur Singh Bharmauri who is the party nominee from Bharmaur. The tribal constituency goes to the polls on November 14. The Election Commission has directed Deputy Commissioner, Chief Electoral Officer and S.P. of Chamba to be stationed at Bharmaur till the poll is completed. A spokesman said the Commission has directed that if the D.C. and the S.P. have to go to the district headquarters in Chamba in connection with arrangements for other constituencies in the district that go to the polls in the second phase of the elections in Himachal Pradesh, they will do so only after informing the State’s Chief Electoral Officer. The spokesman also said that the Election Commission had ordered the transfer of Deputy Commissioner of Una Rajesh Kumar on health Grounds. Director Transport Onkar Sharma, has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Una district. Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer of Himachal Pradesh, Manisha Nanda, reviewed the position of road clearance in the three tribal constituencies on Wednesday. She directed the officials concerned to keep the Rohtang Pass and all the roads in the tribal areas open for vehicular and human movement during the election period.
