PUDUCHERRY: Lt Governor Mukut Mithi, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and leaders have extended their warm greetings and good wishes to the people of the Union Territory on the occasion of Deepavali. Lt Governor Mr. Mithi said the festival of lights commemorated the triumph of truth and righteousness. “It is a time for retrospection and celebration of our achievements in the past and renew our commitment towards realising the ambitions and aspirations for the future,” he added. In his message, Chief Minister Mr. Rangasamy wished that the lights dispel the darkness of ignorance, end terrorism and show the way to a new world that has no place for hatred and is filled with love. The festival, he said, provided an opportunity to reassert the people’s unity in diversity. Minister for Education and Information Technology M.O.H.F.Shahjahan urged the people to rededicate themselves for the cause of bringing unity among all religions, putting an end to terrorism and ushering in peace in the country. Puducherry Congress Committee president P. Shanmugam wished that the festival of lights brought success to everyone and spread happiness. Leader of the Pattali Makkal Katchi Parliamentary party M. Ramadass asked the people rededicate themselves to the cause of protecting social justice even while ensuring progress along the path of economic growth. E. Ganesan, president, Pondicherry State Janata Dal (Secular) also extended his greetings to the people on the occasion.
