BJP demands public apology from Congress
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday took exception to the Congress washing the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Bangalore after its (BJP) leaders staged a two-day protest at the venue.
Addressing a press conference here, BJP leaders D.H. Shankaramurthy and Jagadish Shettar pointed out that Mahatma Gandhi had fought against untouchability. But the act of cleaning the statue by the Congress leaders after the BJP’s protest smacked of this social evil and would tantamount to insulting the Gandhian ideology, they said and demanded a public apology from the Congress.
