On alert: Bomb disposal squad personnel defusing a ‘bomb’ in Karimnagar. KARIMNAGAR: The recovery of a “mysterious bomb” created panic at the RTC bus station complex in Karimnagar town on Tuesday night. Karimnagar town CI Ganapathi Jadav said that a sweeper noticed a container with two wires protruding from a bag underneath a bus near platform number 10 and alerted security officials. The RTC authorities informed the police personnel on duty at the outpost. A constable lifted the ‘bomb’ and hurled it into the open place at the bus station. Additional forces and bomb squads were rushed to the spot. Metal detectors scanned the ‘bomb’ and beep sounds could be heard from inside the bag. The police again shifted the ‘bomb’ to a safer place and informed the Hyderabad bomb disposal squad to examine whether it was a crude bomb or IED. The bomb measured about four inches in length and three inches in width and there were two wires coming out of it. Besides, it was covered with a brown adhesive tape. The Karimnagar police sounded a high alert and intensified search operations in the town.
