Drive against private buses to continue

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Transport Minister K. Lakshminarayana has said that the drive against the illegal operation of private buses on RTC routes such as Vijayawada-Hyderabad will continue.

Replying to a question raised in the Legislative Council on Tuesday by D. Veerabhadra Rao (Telugu Desam Party), the Minister said the government had sanctioned 49 assistant motor vehicle inspector posts as sought by the RTC management for its exclusive use as “enforcement wing” to check illegal private operations. The recruitment to these posts would be undertaken by the Andhra Pradesh State Public Service Commission shortly.
